I regularly wear a pedometer on my right hip. I don’t wear it for workouts but I keep it on during the day to track my movement and the number of steps I take.
There are a number of 10,000 step a day programs that suggest wearing the pedometer to do this same thing. It is thought that walking for 10,000 steps every day will help burn a few extra calories and if combined with an exercise program may improve the quality of life.
10,000 Step Program
1) Purchase a Pedometer -available at many stores. I got mine at Charlottesville Running Company and it is made by Timex. www.charlottesvillerunningcompany.com
2) Wear the pedometer for 5-7 days and record the number of steps each day and take an average (total steps divided by number of days)
3) If at or near 10,000 GREAT !!!!!, If Not try to add some walking time to your day.
